Challenges
- This was a building that could not be closed during works being carried out, meaning areas of work in offices that need to be carried out at night.
- We were unable to get a road closure for crane lift to move condensers to the roof. After mulitople options being explored it was decided we would break down units, manually manoevre to the roof and rebuilt by Panasonic Approved specialist maintaining warrenty of the kit.
The Brief
Calstan Mechanical were instructed by B&M McHugh to carry out the installation of new Air Conditioning Units within Atrium Court, a council owned building. The existing systems were life expired and with the spare parts becoming obsolete, it was decided to install a new system.
The Scope
Degas and removal of the Sanyo VRV systems installed serving multiple areas including, classrooms, meeting rooms and offices
Removal of all 20 Sanyo Cassette units, including pipework, cabling, and drainage. Disposal of gas, air conditioning units and waste materials removed from site and disposed of in compliance with F-Gas regulations.
New install of 20 Panasonic Cassette units including individual BS Boxes for gas exchange, including new pipework, insulation, control cables and drainage. New power provided to condensers.
New system fully pressure tested, evacuated, charged with refrigerant, and commissioned.
The Outcome
At handover, both main contractor and client attended a walk around of the new installed system. Both parties with pleased with the works that had completed and that Calstan carried out the project within the time scales allocated and with minimal impact to a working building.
