The Brief
Calstan Mechanical was instructed by AM1 Projects to carry out mechanical works in the brand-new wheel at Slade Green LMD, which provides maintenance to trains. “Multi-million-pound investment at Slade Green depot boosts rail industry’s maintenance capabilities and smoother, more reliable journeys for customers”
The Scope
The scope of works includes the removal of the existing heating system, including all associated pipework and equipment, to facilitate the installation of a new system. It involves supplying and installing a new mechanical plant room system, including heating, domestic hot water, and cold water services, along with associated pipework. New cold water feed and expansion header tanks will be installed in the tank house pigeon loft, with all necessary connections. The works include reconnecting the proposed mechanical plant to the existing heating system and domestic hot and cold water pipework within the cleaners’ shed. Additionally, new gas pipework will be provided and installed to the new plant room, originating from an existing branch within the adjacent berthing shed. New controls will be installed for the heating and hot water systems, designed to integrate with the existing control system. The project also includes modifying and extending the existing compressed air line, relocating the compressor as needed, and adjusting the existing canteen ventilation system to accommodate the proposed new wall location.
